I investigate the properties of surfaces and the context of human interaction within that.  I want to investigate how these various surfaces evoke an emotional or guttural feeling within the individuals viewing them.  Bouncing between objects that mimic our reality and objects that are formed from the intuition of my hand and making process, I hope to render an experience to the viewer that is both familiar and novel.  I am interested in how the interior experience of the artist is made exterior, then, how that experience is shared, interpreted, and felt by others.  Aspects such as pattern and color tap into these various states of experience, memory, and the subconscious, to present interesting juxtapositions against the forms.

I am also interested in community engagement within the arts and my ceramic process. I investigated this in a solo exhibition The Intimate Library of Making and Experiencing. In this library individuals could explore the space and select up to 3 ceramic items created by myself and other artists from the UARK studio to check out for one month’s time.Upon returning the object, they received a library card with their image and the information for the item they returned. Through this work I want to change the perspective of who can have art in their homes, what space it has to occupy, and what it means to share with and trust other people.I want individuals to not only become more familiar with the art presented but create a community with the idea that art is accessible to them, and us as individuals being able to have a fluid interaction with the changes in objects in our space. In this way you do not have to purchase or own the object, but enjoy it for a time, that it is yours. How we can essentially curate our mental and physical space to whatever we would like it to be, through the access to ideas, feelings, and tactile interaction with these objects.
